Singapore's Medusa Is Back!

This September, the literature that won the "Winner of the 2016 Epigram Books Fiction Prize" is coming back in the form of a comic book, with a new story twist and visual experience to impress fans of this literature.

Despite being new to the comic scene, the artist Ong Chin Leng (Asher) is ready to unveil his first comic book. The story of the comic is inspired by Singaporean literature "The Gatekeeper" by writer Nuraliah Norasid. Below is the comic synopsis:

​

"Young medusa Ria was living a peaceful life until Ormal Din - the leader of Manticura was assassinated by a medusa. Seen as an act of terrorism, this cause an uproar among citizens of Manticura. With society living in fear of monsters, Ria has to live among humans in secret as she faces potential threats that could immediately place her and her family's lives into imminent danger as she grows up."

The comic book will be released on the 29th of September as part of Utter, an event initiated by the National Arts Council and Singapore Writers Festival. For more information about the event, you may follow social media account (@ria_theforgottensmile) or the artist (@oxygenchloride).
